I am interested in learning more about Executive Consultation services
Unfinished Business/Executive Consulting Services
- The applicant for your job opening looks great on paper and interviewed well.
But is she the right "fit" for your corporate culture? - Your new hire is having difficulty adjusting to his new role.
How can you get him up to speed and feeling comfortable in his position? - Your executive team has been going through a period of change, and productivity levels have declined.
What's really going on?
Too often, organizations are distracted from their main focus of doing business when issues of "human noise" arise. The Unfinished Business division of Matrix Psychological Services can help.
In order to assist our corporate clients with the "unfinished business" of human capital management concerns, our psychologists created Unfinished Business to customize direct consultation projects. These consultation services are not templated; each project is uniquely tailored to the organization's needs.
Using specially selected psychometric testing and/or clinical interviews, Unfinished Business projects include:
- Executive Team Assessment
- Pre-Employment Screening
- Leadership Development
- Fitness-for-Duty Evaluation
- Psychological Consultant Evaluation
- Workplace Crisis Stabilization
If you have a human management issue that is not mentioned above, don't hesitate to contact us. We will work with you to create a solution based on your needs.

Executive Team Assessment
Using structured clinical interviews and a variety of psychological inventories specifically chosen for your project, Unfinished Business psychologists will help your team create what we call a "Cultural Mosaic." This Mosaic will define the team's corporate culture and identify areas of strength and areas in need of further development. We will examine core competencies such as team work, leadership competency, workplace principles and values, and personality and fit.
Each member of the team will receive his/her results in a comprehensive report, as well as overall team data and themes. Team principals will receive a copy of each associate's report in addition to the overall team information. "Go forward" recommendations are also included for the team principals and may include suggestions for individual coaching sessions for associates. During a group debriefing session, we will highlight the Cultural Mosaic's team themes gleaned from the process.
Pre-Employment Screening
High turnover rates and other problems related to poor employee-job fit can plague even the best of companies. Managing these problems often requires manpower and capital that could be used better elsewhere.
Using psychological inventories and structured clinical interviews, Matrix Unfinished Business psychologists will customize a new-hire program for your company designed to maximize both person-job and person-organization fit. We will create a comprehensive report for the company based on our findings, and will make a recommendation regarding hiring. We will provide assessment feedback and interview suggestions that help identify applicant strengths and weaknesses.
And we don't stop once you've found the right candidate. Since even a strong match may require a period of adjustment to your organization's unique culture, Unfinished Business psychologists can aid in the transition process with up to six months of post-hire counseling and consultation.
Leadership Development
Many employers find themselves struggling with the reality that some of their key leaders possess vital industry skills, but seem to lack critical human relationship skills that block them from achieving their goals. Using structured clinical interviews and a variety of psychological inventories specifically chosen for your leader(s), Unfinished Business psychologists will help your leader identify areas of strength and areas in need of further development. We will examine core competencies such as leadership style, workplace principles and values, personality and emotional intelligence.
Each leader will receive his/her results in a comprehensive report, as well as "go forward" recommendations that may include suggestions for individual Matrix coaching sessions for associates.
Fitness-For-Duty Evaluation
Matrix psychologists are frequently asked by defense attorneys to perform independent psychological evaluations (IPE) in order to determine the nature and extent of an employee's/plaintiff's psychological and emotional distress.
Employment law issues which often require an IPE include:
- Fitness for duty
- Claims of emotional distress and mental anguish due to wrongful termination discrimination and harassment
- ADA accommodation
- Negligent hiring and retention
- Social Security disability determination
- Violence risk assessment
IPEs involve pre-evaluation consultation and medical/treatment record review as well as a review of all relevant documents submitted. The evaluation itself utilizes a number of psychometric instruments designed to assess psychopathology, personality structure and disorders, and cognitive/intellectual functioning and a clinical interview. The conclusions and opinions offered in the final report are based on the scientific principles and standards that form the foundation of vocational and clinical psychology, and reflect a reasonable degree of psychological certainty.
Psychological Consultant Evaluation
Unfinished Business psychologists will conduct objective and impartial investigations regarding allegations of worksite sexual harassment, racial discrimination, gender discrimination, management abuses, sexual imposition, theft, and threat and retaliation. Investigations include on-site and telephone interviews and reviews of pertinent documents. A report with the psychologist's findings is provided to legal counsel upon completion.
