Hunter Sully, Ph.D.

Dr. Sully is joining Matrix as a postdoctoral psychology resident in August 2020. He earned his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Ball State University. His therapeutic style is integrative, combining interpersonal and emotion-focused therapies, through a feminist and multicultural lens. Dr. Sully focuses on meeting clients where they are at, helping to work together to walk along a journey of growth and healing. Throughout the therapeutic process, he collaborates with his clients to help them better understand themselves, their emotions, and their relationships with others. He works to honor every person’s diverse and unique story, exploring the identities and experiences that have shaped their worldview and made them the person they are. He enjoys working with clients struggling with all types of concerns, and he has a special interest working with concerns related to anxiety, depression, eating disorders, gender and sexual identity development, as well with couples who are wanting to improve their relationship with each other. In terms of Dr. Sully’s personal interests, he is a huge fan of music, singing, playing video games, watching television, spending time with his husband, cooking, and finding new restaurants to try.
