Joan Simon, Ph.D., Licensed Psychologist
Dr. Joan Simon holds a PhD in Psychology, a PhD in Sociology, and a Masters in Educational Research from OSU. Her BA is in English Literature from SUNY at Buffalo. She has been a teacher, a curriculum developer, and a consultant to arts organizations, retail, business, and the public transit entities. Dr. Simon has practiced as a Psychologist in community mental health centers, in a large group practice, and for the past 15 years as a Clinical Assistant Professor on the faculty at The Ohio State University, Department of Family and Community Medicine. Here she worked with a very diverse group of patients, supervised PhD psychology residents and fellows, and taught their Family Medicine residents the art and science of behavioral health counseling.
She maintains a practice that is broad in focus. She helps people experiencing anxiety, depression, family relationship problems, school and work issues, and adjustment problems and she uses a wide variety of counseling methods and tools to address individuals’ psychological and emotional concerns within the context of their relationships and their social realities.
