Barbara J. Clark, M.Ed, LPCC-S

Barbara J. Clark is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervision Endorsement through the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Work and Marriage and Family Therapy Board.  Barbara received her Master of Science in Education, in Community Counseling from the University of Dayton in 2012 and her BA in Psychology from Capital University.  Barbara’s competencies include treatment of mental health disorders which includes anxiety, depression, trauma disorders, marriage and family counseling, career and educational counseling, human resource and employee assistance counseling, rehabilitation counseling, addiction counseling and consultation.  Barbara has experience working with children, adolescents and adults in an individual and group environment. She also has experience working with trauma, sexual offending and sexual abuse populations. The theories that guide her to counseling are Brief, Christian, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused, Dialectical, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy utilizing Art Therapy.  Barbara works in collaboration with the client to identify how cognitions (i.e. thought and beliefs) impact their feelings and behaviors.  Her motto is “Positive Thoughts creates Positive Results.” She believes that it is her duty to plant seeds, help the client to water them and produce the harvest of positive outcomes. She also acknowledges the effects of socio-cultural systems on minorities and she work with client to increase awareness of their choices and to empower clients to live according to their own values.  The initial appointment is spent developing the therapeutic relationship and defining the client’s therapeutic goals.
